Art of Living

In 2002 Monika encountered a basic course of the Art of Living Organization in The Netherlands and it was the starting point of a new outlook on life for her.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

In the last five years Monika has done many more basic courses of The Art of Living in Europe and Africa, advance courses with 3,5 days of silence in Africa and India, and encountered a few personal meetings with the founder of the Art of Living, HH Sri sri Ravi Shankar. She participated in the celebration of Art of Living in Bangalore, India, where 3 million people from all over the world, all different races, cultures, religions and beliefs came together for the same message: “Love moves the World.”

Inspired by Guruji (Sri Sri Ravi Shankar), experiencing what the daily practice of art of living benefits her and her family, she strongly felt the need to offer the knowledge and the practice to all people who are interested in enjoying life, living stress free, and having a smile on their faces!

As Banana House developed into a very inspiring, kind and beautiful place to stay, Monika offered a few successful Art of Living basic courses on the rooftop of Banana House and the idea for an Art of Living Lamu Holiday was born.

Our intensions are to reach NGO’s and local communities. People who work for NGO’s are generally people who care about others. However in daily life, under the circumstances that NGO’s work in, people have to deal with a lot of stress and  demanding situations. Often people have not been prepared to release stress and find happiness within themselves. NGO’s send their people to recuperate for a week holiday, and many times Banana House is the haven where exhausted people get back to reality.

"We are very glad we joined the course far away from home. The surrounding
was perfect to give yourself 100% - the sun, the sea, the breeze, the food -
but most of all the opportunity to share this experience with people from
different cultures is what made the course an unforgettable experience!"
